A teacher in the Bristol schools has been appointed as the new special education supervisor for the town schools, Superintendent of Schools Gary Mala has announced.
Tiffany Fox has been a special eduation teacher in the Bristol schools since 2009 and she takes the place of Scott Rossignol, who is leaving to work for the Farmington school district.
In his announcement, Mala said Fox was recognized for her volunteer work in May. Instruction initiatives she worked on in Bristol include a literacy program for children in second grade and professional development on scientific research based interventions. Mala said Fox also helped provide more opportunities for families in Bristol whose children were starting kindergarten to engage with the schools.
Fox is a graduate of Southern Central Connecticut State University and has a master's degree in special education with a concentration in autism spectrum disorders. Mala said Fox recently completed a sixth year in educational leadership program at Central Connecticut State University.
The special education supervisor works in the district's pupil personnel services department. Another recent change for that department was the appointment of a new director, Kimberly Mearman, who joined the town schools earlier this summer.
