According to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), a Specific Learning Disability (SLD) refers to a disorder affecting one or more fundamental psychological processes involved in understanding or using spoken or written language. Conditions that fall under this category include perceptual disabilities, brain injuries, minimal brain dysfunction, dyslexia, and developmental aphasia. However, specific learning disabilities do not encompass learning difficulties primarily caused by visual, hearing, or motor impairments, intellectual disabilities, emotional disturbances, or environmental, cultural, or economic disadvantages.
