The Special Education Advisory Council advises the Board of Education on matters related to the education and protection of students with disabilities. In addition, the council provides guidance to the families of students with disabilities regarding special education and related services. The purpose of an advisory council is to guide, provide policy recommendations, influence decision-making by board members, and contribute personal knowledge and experiences to support the board. The responsibilities of the Special Education Advisory Council include:

Enabling parents, district officials, and community stakeholders to actively contribute to achieving positive outcomes for students with disabilities

Cultivating trust, collaboration, and genuine partnerships among parents, district staff, and community members
