I'm reading negative reviews from some but I have to disagree. I worked for Jim Wilkes when it was Wilkes and McHugh, from 1993 to 2000. I started as a runner/copy staff. After a couple of years I was moved up to an assistant to the office manager. I met with clients across Florida and other states. I would say Jim Wilkes and Tim McHugh are bull dogs when it comes to getting results! Now, in my experience, some clients were difficult. My issue was losing my job when my Wife got sick! I'm a little bitter about that! All and all, they are awesome!
No amount of money would bring my parent back. So it's not about the money. Is about them leading you on for months. You are here thinking you getting justice for the family. When all of a sudden you get a letter. Not a phone call, not a meeting a FedEx letter. Wow, it took them 10 months to tell you, there is a case but we are not taking it. SMFH! So instead of fighting for my family since you are not making enough money for yourself you don't take the case. Wow!
My Father was killed in a Nursing Home. A second party contacted me and referred me to them. After a 3 month investigation into my Father's situation, they decided to take the case. I was happy, I thought we would finally get justice for my Dad. Little did I know these people are only interested in taking your money. My Dad had signed a paper stating that, if there were any problems, there would be NO TRIAL, and that it would be solved with Arbitration. They want 40% which is beyond the normal 30% they would receive. My Attorney, Lydia Wardell, came to my home, 18 months later, sat down at my table and told me the Insurance made an offer, which was only verbal, nothing written, and proceeded to tell me, that I had to accept their offer that day, or I would not receive a penny. They offered a really low amount, and I was furious about the way they handled it and the way they treated me. I then made an Appointment with the Head Lawyer, Blair Mendes, and told him that they made a mistake and did not adhere to the rules of the Arbitration paper my Father signed. There were no Negotiations. There were no numbers going back and forth between me and the Insurance Company. Lydia just took the offer, did not call me, then forced me to sign at my Home. Where they proceeded to take more than 100k on a very small offer. They knew they were in trouble. My intent was for them to not receive the 40% and when I was done with them, they didn't even receive the 30%. I talked them down to a smaller amount that they would take. And then, they made me sign a paper stating that I would not take them to Court in the Future. They didn't care about me or my Dad or my Case. All they cared about was getting as much money as possible for themselves. I would not recommend these people or this firm to anyone. The other person who reviewed them that said, "they stole all my money" is exactly correct and also what happened to me. Stay away from Lydia Wardell and Blair Mendes. They only care about themselves.
I have been working with them going on 8 years. Still nothing settled. Should have read the reviews. Wondering if this will bite me in the @$$ for posting this.
