His first eight (8) years as an attorney were devoted to a general practice in Howell, Michigan.

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

A. Personal injury: 2018 I settled a motor vehicle accident 18 months after the crash. I sued my clients auto insurance carrier for wrongful denial of benefits and I sued the other driver for causing a serious injury and permanent scarring. I accepted the case before my client received a definitive diagnosis but I believed in her due to my impressions formed during the initial consultation and my knowledge of her background and employer. Eventually, after much work and investigation, both cases were settled to her complete satisfaction. B. Family Law: My client was involved in a very difficult marriage with all issues contested in a divorce action. After 2 meditations and the involvement of a family counselor a settlement was engineered that provided for a fair division of the property, sale of the home, and family counseling to address the issues with the children. The client was happy with the outcome and the provisions of the divorce judgment that ordered the cooperation and participation of her husband in future counseling.

How did you build a successful practice?

A solid work ethic and trustworthy work product to develop a reputation. Community involvement is important as well as professional development.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

Availability for an initial consultation. Courtesy and honest responses at the initial consultation. Once the case is taken, action to be taken immediately. Communication with the client should be regular and consistent including immediate return of phone calls and messages. The client should feel confidence that the case will be presented after a full investigation of the facts and thorough research of the legal principles that govern the outcome.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

I have practiced law in this community since 1978. I am known by all the courts and each member of their staff. The judges, mediators and all opposing counsel are familiar with my personality and work ethic which explains why I have a solid reputation in this community.

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

For a free phone consultation I invite the call and I can inquire of the client and assist in developing an understanding of the issue.

What information do you need in a free phone consultation?

At a free office consultation it is helpful that a client bring what documents they possess that are related to their concern.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

Longevity, results, thoroughness, and enthusiasm.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

I feel the most satisfaction when I know that the cases of my clients are up to date with scheduling, investigation and trial preparation. This is a result of team work with the employees of the law office so that each client is confident that his or her case is being presented to his or her satisfaction.

What are your other interests in addition to law?

Otherwise, my main interest is to spend as much time as I can with my wife, children, and grandchildren. I am an amateur landscaper at home and I enjoy sporting and exercise activities in my free time.

Are you involved in your community?

I am involved with St. Patrick's Church in Brighton, Michigan and various volunteer activities organized by local and national charities.
