Gerald L. Marcus has been practicing law since 1987; however, he worked in the personal injury field of law since 1980 as a private investigator for one of the largest personal injury firms in the San Fernando Valley. Mr. Marcus was the firm's primary negligence investigator and worked directly under the firm's senior partners developing and preparing cases for settlement and trial. The experiences that Mr. Marcus gained as a full-time negligence investigator inspired his passion for fighting for the rights of innocent injured victims against the insurance industry. Mr. Marcus attended California State University Northridge and later attended law school at the Southern California Institute of Law at the Ventura College of Law campus. Mr. Marcus was able to complete the 4-year law school curriculum a full six months early, all while working as a full-time negligence investigator. Hundreds of Millions of Dollars Recovered for Clients Since 1987, Mr. Marcus has represented nearly 15,000 clients. He has managed to obtain more than $200,000,000.00 in settlements, arbitration awards, and jury verdicts for his clients. Please describe a case(s) in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
I was able to settle a difficult case involving a student at a private university. Who was struck by a car at a blind intersection while riding his skateboard.  He suffered serious injuries.  The case was rejected by 3 other lawyers.  We fought for 3 years and won a 4.5 million dollar settlement for him to help him for life. And convinced the private university to make the condition safe. 

How did you build a successful practice?
I have built a successful practice by placing my client's interest first and before mine. Always fighting for the innocent injured victim in order to place them in the same level playing files as corporate giants.  And never giving up. Always being honest and reasonable and dedicated to the practice of law and helping people which I love.

People should look for an attorney when they need one by researching experience, reputation. And the results they get 

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
Local knowledge is extremely important to the results I get for clients because you must specialize or limit your proactive to the area of law you choose and you must be familiar with all of the insurers, claims representatives, defense attorneys, and judges in order to have an advantage of predicting the probably results of a case.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
The most rewarding f aspect of my job is helping people get justice and a fair result. Knowing that without a skilled experienced lawyer they wouldn’t stand a chance and appreciate the opportunity to help and serve and ultimately accomplish our objective of getting a positive result a changing a person's life positively even in a small way. 

What are your other interests in addition to law?
Even though I am practicing made for my clients 24/7. I love to golf.  So activities with my family and dogs.  Volunteer for the Los Angeles trial lawyers charities. And relax .

Are you involved in your community?
I was the president of the Los Angeles trial lawyers charities in 2019. I am an active bird of directors member. I served as secretary. Treasurer and Vice President.   I am also a honorary bird if governors members. We raise money for underprivileged people to make a positive impact on their lives concerning issues of children, people with disabilities, survivors of abuse, education, and homelessness.
