I am an Erie resident, married with three children. The oldest is currently serving in the U.S. Army in Iraq.

I have been practicing law in Erie for over 18 years. I graduated from McDowell High School in 1979 and then went on to get my undergraduate degree from Penn State. I attended law school at Ohio Northern University.

Since passing the Pennsylvania bar exam I worked for an insurance defense firm for about two years. Then I worked in a small general practice firm a couple of years. Finally, I worked at a large plaintiff's personal injury firm for about ten years. I am now a partner in Rohde and Jennings and am continuing my work representing people throughout Northwest Pennsylvania. My practice is primarily in the areas of personal injury and family law.  I also do estate planning through wills, living wills and powers of attorney.

Our firm has been a proud sponsor of MYAA girls basketball and softball, EYSA soccer, as well as the McDowell girls Softball and Cross Country teams .  I have coached of the Ridgfield Elementary Boys basketball team and help coach the Erie Frost softball team.

I am also an avid sports fan. The Cleveland Browns, the Buffalo Sabres, the Detroit Tigers and Penn State football are my favorite teams and keep me busy most weekends. I also am a member of the Glenwood YMCA and can frequently be found working out there.

Career Highlights

Jury verdict in a slip and fall case in Erie County Pennsylvania. I represented a woman injured in a fall down case that went to trial in Erie County Pennsylvania. Prior to trial the judge held what is called a pre-trial settlement conference, which was held in the judge's office. The case did not settle at the pre-trial conference and as we were exiting the judge's office the judge stated that no plaintiff had ever won a slip and fall verdict in his courtroom. That made the victory in this case all the more memorable for me.

Ferri v. Highmark - I represented an individual injured in a motorcycle accident. My client was the operator of a motorcycle stuck by an automobile. As often happens in these types of cases, the injured parties' health insurance company sought what is called "subrogation". Subrogation is an insurance company's right to get repaid for bills it paid from a plaintiff's settlement. Subrogation only applies to very particular types of health insurance plans. In the Ferri case the court held that the insurance company was not entitled to subrogation from the plaintiff's settlement funds and the plaintiff was able to keep his entire settlement. I am frequently asked for copies of this case from lawyers from around the state to try and achieve similar results for their clients.
