QUESTIONNAIRE
Slip in Fall in a parking lot, the client had fallen but had a history of prior Back and Neck surgery within the last 5 years from a previous fall. The company first denied opening a claim for the client and would not give her any information. I made a few calls and got the insurance company info. Then they wanted to limit to their MED PAY - NO FAULT Offer of $5,000. About a year latter we settled with them for $225,000, the client was very happy.
How did you build a successful practice?It was based on client relationship, starting off doing a good job for the client so they would be happy. Knowing how to help the client with their problem and if not getting them to someone that could help them. Keeping the client informed and calling the client with updates directly.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?Does the attorney have the time to do their case personally and the experience. While calling around a few attorney over the phone see if you actually get to speak to the attorney or do you just get to speak to the assistant every time. Does the attorney make time to actually get to know your case, reply to your calls and emails and text, does the attorney care about you and your case. I never take more than my client can recover and willing to lower my fees in cases were liability is disputed and contributory, I take cases to help build a relationship with the client and to get future referrals not just see how much money I can make from one case.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?An attorney can rely on his reputation to help him settle cases.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?Basic Information if the attorney can accept they type of case you have, the fees for the service and experience of the attorney. Specific questions you may have other than facts of your specific case.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?What you are asking the attorney to do, dates and basic information as to what happened and why you think an attorney can help you.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?You really need to call a few attorneys and determine that for yourself, but I have been told that an attorney who will make time for your case and reply to your questions, personal email access to me all the time and cell phone to access me directly ( I do not answer while in the car or in court) but I can return your call or text very soon. I show the client a complete breakdown with all amounts, bills and reductions and provide copies of all checks to verify payments made - I do the same with all the doctors to everyone knows the same info and is treated fairly- we all work together as a team on your case.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?Having a client thank me for working on their case and getting a phone call years later- yes I do remember your case most of the time and thank you for the referral again.
What are your other interests in addition to law?I love doing stuff with my family, going to the sporting events, club soccer with the kids and church. I like to stay home with my pets and plant in the garden, and I collect coins.
Are you involved in your community?I am active with my church and the kids school and club soccer. I have lived in the same community for over 47 years and have a feel for what is going on.
