In the last 12 months I have made a significant impact in two cases. The first, a horrific motorcycle accident resulting in my client being charged with aggravated vehicular assault with OVI specifications, all of which ordinarily result in a prison sentence. Additionally, there were insurance issues, and an arrest warrant. This case was defended to a successful result, all insurance issues were resolved, my client was placed on probation, managed to save his drivers license and was able to successfully maintain his employment.

Over the last 30 years I have worked hard to accomplish my clients goals, treated my clients with fairness and dignity, and worked with my clients regarding financial matters. when I was younger I aligned myself with older attorneys to learn from their experiences, as well as growing professionally from my role as a prosecutor.

I would first recommend that the clients look for extensive, relevant experience in the area that they need assistance with. "One size does not fit all". Every lawyer is not the same and a lawyer should not be selected just because he is the least expensive lawyer that you have consulted. Least expensive may mean least experienced which may lead to a bad result. Don't be afraid to ask questions regarding the attorneys experience and types of cases handled.

Local knowledge is critical to the way the courts operation but also the nuances of each judge sitting at the municipal, common pleas and appellate court level. Know the law, know the judge and reasonably know the results that can expected.

Often times I provide free consultations in cases that I cannot accept or the clients cannot afford to retain our office. Such information provided may be costs of filing fees, how to prepare a simple complaint, how to file an answer and many other procedural aspects.

In a phone consultation I usually take a fairly detailed history not only of the background of the parties but also the background of the case. Establishing the clients goals and objectives early on is critical.

I believe that I have distinguished myself from other lawyers in the community by successful 30 years a practice in the area of domestic relations, criminal and personal injury. Additionally, I have access to Greenleaf Family Counseling which assists in my work not only with the clients but with the Court personnel and I also have extensive experience as a prosecutor.

The most rewarding aspect of job is establishing and then obtaining my clients goals and objectives. This is also one of the fundamental elements for building a successful law practice. Know your client, know the law, know the judge.

I enjoy the involvement of my family, the time and participation in the activities of my 16 year old son, biking, fishing and travel. It is very important to learn how to take time away from your practice to keep your body and your mind fresh to assist your clients.

Over the past several years I have been involved in the Akron Bar Association, the Summit County Mental Health Board, United Way , lecturing in both grade schools and periodically at the University of Akron . Additionally, I assisted it the development and management of the Ohio Mock Trial Program here in Summit County operated through the Ohio Supreme Court and the local Akron Bar Association in conjunction with the sitting common pleas judges. The Ohio Mock Trial Program provides local high school students throughout the State to gain valuable experience working with lawyers/coaches to participate in actually presenting a case in common pleas court.
