Vicki L. Shoemaker, Attorney

Vicki has devoted her career at Marshall, Dennehey to practicing in the areas of product liability, lemon law/ breach of warranty/consumer fraud, insurance fraud, insurance bad faith, personal injury, motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, contractual indemnification, commercial law, business litigation, and property damage matters. She has a significant amount of experience representing numerous motor vehicle manufacturers in lemon law, breach of warranty, consumer fraud, and product liability matters, as well as various insurance companies in insurance fraud matters. Vicki also has an extensive background representing construction companies in premises liability and property damage matters along with grocery stores, department stores, home goods stores, and apartment complexes in premises liability matters.

Vicki graduated Magna Cum Laude and in the top five percent of her class at Widener University School of Law. She was a member of and actively participated and competed in the Moot Court Honor Society and Moe Levine Trial Advocacy Honor Society. While in law school she earned Certificates of Achievement in the following classes: Business Organizations, Corporate Finance, Constitution Law II, Landlord Tenant Law and Delaware Practice. Additionally, Vicki earned the Outstanding Service Award; the Wapner, Newman, Wigrizer & Brecher Award; and the Howard M. Berg Award. In addition, she was honored for providing over 87 hours of pro bono service during law school and graduated with a pro bono distinction.

In her last year of law school, Vicki was elected and served as the National Chair for the American Bar Association's Law Student Division, representing over 51,000 law students nationwide. During her term she wrote monthly articles for the ABA's Student Lawyer magazine, she lobbied congressional and state leaders regarding law student issues, and she created and provided new opportunities for law students to use and enhance their legal skills in a practical atmosphere. She established, maintained, and furthered the Division's relationships with ABA entities, professional staff, and other organizations. She initiated the Pro Bono Partnership Program which is designed to link attorneys with law students in an effort to make it easier for attorneys to take on pro bono clients. Five pilot programs were created at law schools across the country, with Widener University School of Law in Delaware being one of them. The program was very successful and will continue to benefit attorneys, law students, and the public. She was also appointed by ABA President Michael Greco to serve on the Presidential Task Force on Hurricane Katrina. Vicki was awarded the Division's Gold Key for extraordinary service in August 2006.

Vicki has made a myriad of visits to Capitol Hill where she lobbied members of Congress for increased Stafford Loan limits for law students and a modification to the current Income Contingent Repayment Option. She also lobbied for loan assistance or deferment for new lawyers employed as prosecutors and public defenders.

Prior to serving as National Chair for the ABA/LSD, she served as the Law Student Division's Third Circuit Governor, representing law students in the states of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, and Delaware. During her term she created and implemented opportunities to benefit law students, including but not limited to public service events, networking opportunities, competitions, and educational opportunities. She also designed a Community Service Program as the model for the Division and was awarded the Star of the Division Award in October 2004.

Vicki clerked for Judge Barry C. Dozor in the Delaware County Court of Common Pleas in Media, Pennsylvania, before joining Marshall, Dennehey. She is admitted to practice law in Delaware, including the Federal District Court of Delaware, and in Pennsylvania.

Vicki graduated from Millersville University of Pennsylvania in December 2000. She earned a B.S. in Communication: Public Relations in only three and a half years. Prior to law school, Vicki was employed as the Director for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) for South Central Pennsylvania. Her office was consistently ranked as one of the top offices in the nation.
