Alan J. Tyma, Attorney

Attorney Alan J. Tyma is a founding partner of the law firm of Ryan and Tyma LLP which originated in 1983. 

Attorney Tyma graduated with honors from Fairfield University in 1973 and the University of Connecticut School of Law in 1976. He is admitted to practice law in all Connecticut State Courts and the U.S. District Court, Connecticut. 

Attorney Tyma has served as Corporation Counsel to the City of Derby, Counsel to its Superior Court Building Committee and as Assistant Corporation Counsel to the City of Shelton. He has served as counsel to many community nonprofit entities in his professional career. 

Attorney Tyma has served in many volunteer leadership positions, including Chairman of the Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the Workplace, Inc., Vice Chairman of Griffin Hospital, Vice Chairman of the State of Connecticut Employment and Training Commission,  Vice Chairman of the Valley Regional Water Authority,  President of Oak Lane Country Club, member and Finance Chair of the Community Foundation for Greater New Haven and member of the Valley Community Foundation. 

Attorney Tyma has been awarded the prestigious Gold Seal award by the Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce and a community leadership award by the Valley Advisory Committee. 

Attorney Tyma maintains professional affiliations with the following groups: Valley Bar Association (past president), Connecticut Bar Association, Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association, American Bar Association, and American Association for Justice. 

Attorney Tyma, a native of Derby, is a resident of Woodbridge, where he resides with his wife Mary Ann, and their two children, Christiana and Brendan.
