With nearly three decades of legal experience, Attorney Geary develops close relationships with her clients, aiming to understand their goals and issues and, where appropriate, the goals and issues of affected family members and caregivers. The legal community has recognized Attorney Catherine M. Geary for her work in several areas, including naming her as one of the Top 100 Lawyers in Boston Magazine. Attorney Geary has served as co-chair of the automobile tort committee of the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorney. She regularly serves as a conciliator at the Lowell District Court and Middlesex County Superior Court/Lowell Alternative Dispute Resolution/Conciliation programs. Attorney Geary was a member of the Human Rights Committee of the Mental Health Association of Greater Lowell. She is a member of the Greater Lowell Bar Association, Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys, and the Massachusetts Bar Association. She volunteers her services with the Veteran's Legal Services and with the Massachusetts Bar Association Dial-A-Lawyer program.
QUESTIONNAIRE
A client was suffered injuries when she was struck by a vehicle. Fortunately, her injuries healed. I was able to insure that all of her medical bills, including copays were paid. She received a settlement which allowed her to get back on her feet, purchase a vehicle, and set aside a bit of a nest egg to provide security for her and her children. It is gratifying to be able to help clients get back on their feet after a setback, or an injury, and my role is to get the compensation that they deserve for the injuries and harm suffered.
How did you build a successful practice?All of us Geary & Geary, LLP work really hard to make sure that our clients feel understood, and heard. We return calls, meet with clients and their families, and try to understand their needs so that we can provide legal strategies and solutions to meet those needs.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?Clients should look for a personal connection with their attorney. Often times we hear of clients who choose an attorney from TV or bill board advertising only to find out that the attorney they think they are hiring is not the attorney they will be working with. Meeting with your attorney, and knowing that you can reach out and call, or schedule an in-person meeting is very important.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?It's very important for the lawyer you hire to know the local legal landscape. With this knowledge, your attorney able to develop legal strategies that will help you succeed in your case. What are your other interests in addition to law?My passion outside of work is hiking, and being out in nature, exploring new places.
