Peter Menges received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Colorado School of Law in 1997. He also received a Bachelors of Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1997, where he graduated cum laude. Mr. Menges spent his first five years of practice as a Trial Attorney with the Denver Office of The Office of the Colorado Public Defender. Mr. Menges opened The Law Office of Peter D. Menges, P.C. in January of 2003 and has been exclusively in private practice ever since. Mr. Menges has extensive trial experience. Mr. Menges has personally handled over a hundred trials. He has lectured to hundreds of Colorado criminal defense attorneys on criminal defense law and procedure. He does pro bono work for those in need, and in 2004 was awarded the Colorado Lawyers’ Committee’s Community Contribution Award for his work fighting to secure the release of a formerly mentally ill patient who had been indefinitely committed to the Colorado Mental Health Institute after a “not guilty by reason of insanity” commitment.

Kyle Bachus won his first argument in front of the state supreme court when he was only 17 years old. As a junior in high school, Kyle attended a Florida state legislation day for Florida high school students. As part of the day’s activities, he was selected to argue a predetermined topic in front of a panel of licensed lawyers sitting on a mock supreme court. He was provided with appropriate documentation, and tasked with researching and preparing his argument. Selected as one of the best presenters of the day statewide, he was both surprised and inspired. Once he decided on a career in law, there was no stopping him. During law school, Mr. Chayet's grandmother, Letty Milstein, was the principle party in one of the most controversial and public elder law cases in the state of Colorado. The Estate of Milstein v. Ayers, 955 P.2d 78 (Colo. App. 1998), is a landmark probate case which upholds and protects the right to counsel and due process of incapacitated adults in Colorado and has been codified into the Colorado Uniform Protective Proceedings Act (the guardianship and conservatorship laws). This experience was the impetus for Mr. Chayet's career long practice commitment to the field of elder law and probate litigation. Mr. Chayet is the past Chairman of the Elder Law Section of the Colorado Bar Association and the recipient of Colorado Super Lawyers 2011 Rising Star in Elder Law. Mr. Chayet's expertise in the area of elder law has also been demonstrated through his publishing in the areas of elder law as well as many public speaking appearances throughout Colorado.Mr. Chayet is an active member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and a member of the Colorado Bar Association where fellow Colorado attorneys nominated Mr. Chayet to be a Fellow of the Colorado Bar Foundation.
