• Case 1: In a a very complicated and contentious will contest, a nice lady owned a number of properties in several different jurisdictions. She had many friends and family members. Unfortunately, she had reached an age where her memory was failing her and she was easily swayed by those around her. When she died, she left behind several different wills, and it appeared that someone had taken advantage of her financially for years. Over a million dollars had disappeared. The struggle to protect the interests of her beneficiaries was long and drawn out, and resulted in several different lawsuits in state and federal courts in the DC area. Eventually we were able to recover the property and ensure that the rightful heirs received what was promised to them. Case 2: Federal racketeering cases are complex and the stakes are high. With the prospect of treble damages and attorneys fees, such cases are typically hard fought. I have successfully defended racketeering cases in federal courts and US Court of Appeals, and successfully defended state court actions afterwards. Case 3: In a medical malpractice action, I was able to demonstrate that a surgical error caused the tragic death of a woman. By carefully investigating and preparing the necessary proof, we recovered a fair settlement for the family prior to filing a lawsuit. Case 4: Divorce and child custody matters sometimes involve novel or complex issues. Recently, one involved a couple who were married overseas. They were high profile individuals, with assets located all over the world. I successfully fought off challenges to jurisdiction in the United States in order to bring about the client's desired result in Maryland.
